Do you still remember those white tennis shoes from Croatian Vukovar, which were a nightmare for some?
The “Startas” shoes are back with a new image – colourful, with stripes, with leopard prints…
First designed to play table tennis, the canvas, low, one colour, rubber sole and completely handmade tennis shoes “Startas” have left a mark on the society and fashion of the communist Yugoslavia in the 80ties. Borovo from Vukovar, the maker of Startas and then a regional industry giant sold over five million of these tennis shoes annualy. The shoe reached the peak of popularity and power as sports fashion label, when the company sponsored all the sportsmen attending the Universiade in Zagreb in 1987.
Why shouldn’t a fashion trend with tradition become a part of your wardrobe today…
This is “Startas”!
