Good tourist statistics in Ljubljana continued in May. Preliminary data shows that in comparison to May 2014, this May 15,9 percent more tourists spent the night in Ljubljana. [pullquote]Ljubljana recorded a whopping 87.001 overnight stays this May. Within five months, 355,239 overnight stays were documented which is 18 percent more than during the same period last year. [/pullquote]
Tourist Information Centers (TIC) also recorded an increase of number of visits. In total, during the first five months 77.366 visitors visited TICs, which is 8 percent more than in the same period last year. Together in five months Tourism Ljubljana performed 617 city tours, which is 7 percent more than last year during the same period (2014: 574). In this way the city was explored by 14,533 visitors.
Furthermore, the value of sales in the TIC’s, which includes souvenirs, books, postcards, use the Internet, tickets, guided tours, sale of tourist cards and trips around Slovenia, increased significantly. In May, the sales volume increased by 35 percent. In total, sales during the first five months exceeded by one-third last year’s first five month sales.
