Activities of Ljubljana Tourism during the summer months can be divided into three sections. The first summer priority was concern for dynamic summer events – this summer was marked by numerous events and opportunities to discover Ljubljana and its surroundings. This year’s exceptionally hot summer in the eyes of foreign public also shaped “area with its own weather”.

LJUBLJANA HAS DRAWN ATTENTION IN THE DIGITAL SECTOR

With the article for international professional association Digital Tourism Think Tank website they presented the response and the results achieved this year. Ljubljana got a chance to present new successes at the annual conference of Digital Tourism Innovation Campus in November.
In late August, Ljubljana was the coleader on Twitter – about on topic that’s fitting for the Green Capital of Europe – about green cities.

Typical Ljubljana dishes, which have been given a new life as part of the much-acclaimed Taste Ljubljana project, were presented at eat! BRUSSELS, drink! BORDEAUX culinary festival, taking place from 10 to 13 September at the Warande park in Brussels.

TIC’s were on average visited by 1.500 tourists in July and 1.900 in August. They introduced new guided tours with Segway which is green-oriented as guests are taken out of the city center with electric vehicles. The second tour was formed together with Ljubljana LPP (Ljubljana Public Transport), namely a one-hour guided bus tour for groups. They are preparing a tour where they will introduce bees and related content and history in Ljubljana.

According to preliminary assessment there were 350.812 overnight stays or 19% more compared to last year in the months of July and August or 55.000 more overnight stays. The main motive for arrival in Ljubljana during summer was vacation or leisure but they note that the classic congresses are increasingly moving into the first half of July or last week of August – which applies particularly to events organized by the academic sector and summer schools.

In addition to traditional summer festivals, street performances and musical events also sports events

Among the many already established and recognizable events that have taken place in public areas over the past three months, international sports events were a big plus. International tournament in beach volleyball (Ljubljana Beach Volley Challenge) at Congress Square which this year became tradition was also used for the promotion in “photo corner” where passers and visitors of the tournament took pictures and were enthusiastic about their own photo in the Green Capital which they received in memory.
Event Giro Rosa, the most demanding women’s cycling test of Union Cycliste Internationale – UCI, was for the first time organized outside Italy. For International cooperation, the organizers selected Ljubljana. At the Brnik Airport was placed a welcoming poster for all international participants who have traveled to Slovenia by plane.
