On 2nd of February, Union Hotels hosted a reception in Grand Hotel Union where they thanked its long-time partners and presented the novelties that market the business year of 2015.
Union Hotels amazed with its culinary creations prepared by the newly arrived chef Jorg Zupan. Fresh ingredients and healthy preparation methods provided a unique gourmet experience. Guests who understand the taste of perfection and love indulging in the art of the finest deserts were able to indulge in sweets carefully prepared by Alma Rekič, famous pastry Chef from Masterchef Slovenija.
Tomislav Čeh, Director of Union Hotels, took the stage to thank the loyal partners and to point out the many changes the three hotels under the Union Hotels brand went through in the past year. To name just a few. For five consecutive years Grand Hotel Union has been recognised and awarded a TripAdvisor(R) Certificate of Excellence – Hall of Fame winner. In 2015 the hotel gained the halal certification, while the summer months were used for major refurbishments such as bathroom renovations at Grand Hotel Union and Grand Hotel Union Business, fountain in front of Grand Hotel Union Business has been renewed and added some new features, a state-of-the-art Panasonic 3D projector has been added to the main Grand Hotel Union Hall to ensure a first-rate multimedia experience. Grand Hotel Union Business opened a new lounge bar, while Unionski vrt (the Union Garden) now boasts a newly refreshed menu and a pleasant, completely reinvented atmosphere. Also renovated was the hallway connecting the reception to both the restaurant and Zeleni salon (the Green Salon) and Unionski vrt.
Union Hotels also entered the process of obtaining the Travelife designation – an international sustainability certification scheme, which helps its 1,300 hotel members around the world to improve their environmental, social and economic impacts cost-effectively.
The biggest change was closing down the Miklošičeva Street, where Grand Hotel Union and Grand Hotel Union Business are located. After a permit had been granted by the Municipality of Ljubljana, the street was closed off to traffic and came to life through local events at the new Grand Union Café summer terrace.
Last but not least, Grand Hotel Union celebrated 110 years in 2015.
