Lausanne Tourism & Convention Bureau today announces that the World Union of Olympic Cities’ international Smart Cities & Sport Summit will be held for a third time in Lausanne on 10th-12th October, just two months after the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Representatives from more than 60 cities across the world will meet at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), which is located on the shores of Lake Geneva, to learn more about smart strategies that connect sport and cities.

Attendees from the international sports world, including the Olympic Committee and International Federations, as well as representatives from cities interested in sport as a tool for urban development, will have the opportunity to exchange valuable ideas and experiences. Networking opportunities will include a welcome reception at the Olympic Museum and a gala dinner at the five-star Beau-Rivage Palace.

Lausanne Tourism & Convention Bureau will support the conference by providing a number of operational services, including the management of registration, accommodation and a variety of excursions and social activities.

Olivier Mathieu, Congress and Meetings Manager at Lausanne Tourism & Convention Bureau, says: “As Lausanne is the Olympic capital of the world, we are delighted to welcome this innovative summit to our city for the third year. Our location provides the ideal platform for the exchange of high-level ideas, to help cities of all sizes and from all continents promote the benefits of sport on a global scale.”
