The Slovenian Hospitality and Tourism Assembly is a guild event with the longest tradition in Slovenia. Every year it attracts some 500 participants who compete in 22 hospitality and tourism related events. At the same time, the Assembly offers an important opportunity to exchange professional opinions and experience. This year’s Assembly was held on 11 and 12 October at Zdravilišče Radenci, where two other important tourism events also took place from 11 to 13 October: the Days of Slovenian Tourism, organised by the Slovenian Tourist Board and bringing together every major tourism institution in Slovenia, and the 19th Slovenian Tourism Forum. On top of that, there was the award ceremony for participants in ‘My country – beautiful and hospitable’, a Slovenia-wide campaign held by the Tourist Association of Slovenia.

The Hospitality and Tourism Assembly has a rich history in Radenci, as five of these guild events have taken place here since 1983. With an event of this size, experience is essential, as this provides all participants with well-founded courage to expand the concept and successfully upgrade it. The events taking place throughout the week were the result of three months of intensive preparation at the destination. Their objective was to hold the event at venues that would optimally contribute to the best possible implementation, while also be accessible to visitors. On Wednesday, the final day, they filled every last available corner of the Radenci Health Resort. Even the administration office was turned into a smaller meeting room and the entertainment area into a place for holding the competition for hotel maids. Nothing is impossible with thorough preparation and good cooperation between the organiser and the host, they say. They are bold enough to say that the project has been successfully completed and their heartfelt story continues.

In a desire to popularise hospitality and tourism professions, while also bringing the event closer to the general public, this year’s Assembly featured the Street of Flavours, where eight tourism providers linked by the story of water offered food made with fresh, local, seasonal ingredients. Introducing themselves through local dishes were the Sava Hotels & Resorts destinations (Zdravilišče Radenci, Terme 3000 – Moravske Toplice, Terme Lendava, Terme Banovci, Terme Ptuj, Sava Hoteli Bled), LifeClass Portorož, and Hoteli Bernardin.
