Maja Lončar, Destination Projects Associate at Istraturist Umag d.d.
CAREER PATH:
I graduated from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management Opatija and got involved in the hospitality business in my college days. During the college my love thowards sports and health led me to the path of professional fitness so I also become a certified fitness instructor in many fitness disciplines. I soon realised that I need to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, which pushes you to be better and three years ago I got the amazing opportunity to work in the Events department in Istraturist Umag for the Cluster of Northwestern Istria. At the moment I am working as a destination projects associate on few projects, which are related, with sport and tourism. Besides that I have the association specialised for a variety of fitness programs.
Q: What is your favorite meetings brand?
My first steps in hospitality started in Istraturist, partner of Melia Hotels International, and they gave me great knowledge so it is definitely my favourite brand.
Q: What’s the bravest thing you’ve ever done?
Sometimes you have to take risks if you want to achieve great things. In that case, moving from a big city Rijeka and leaving everything behind to come to Umag was the bravest thing. Everything turned out great, now I have a great job, a hobby I like, and love at home.
Q: What’s your alternative career fantasy?
Definitely something involving sport. In my youth, I became quite enthusiastic about having my own sport centre one day, where I will manage group fitness classes.
Q: What are you obsessed with at the moment?
At the moment I am fully occupied with preparing the International Cycling Marathon Istria Granfondo that will be held between 30 September and 2 October 2016. That’s for my team the most challenging project now, so we try to get as much as possible done in the shortest time and of course in the best way possible.
Q: Your goals before 50?
Fulfil my desires for personal growth, creativity and leadership. Be the owner of my own studio. Keep finding time for the people I care about the most.
