In the last week of October, the city of Maribor hosted an event, organized by the Association of Special Olympics Slovenia. Precisely on 25th October, the participants of European Conference of Special Olympics gathered at Hotel Habakuk at the event, organized under the honorary patron of the President of the Republic Slovenia, Borut Pahor.
“Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in my attempt”
The Mayor of Maribor, dr. Andrej Fištravec and Dr. Bogdan Gabrovec, President of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia also participated at event and greeted the participants. Together with Ljubomir Miličevič, President of Special Olympics Slovenia, who emphasized that this was the second time they organized the Euro-Asian conference which is organized every 2 years and their long-term goal remains focusing on the integration of people with intellectual disabilities and their way is through sport.
With a slogan of Special Olympics Slovenia ” Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in my attempt”, the event is an example of good practice and it is not just sport event, but also combines social and cultural activities, focusing on aspect of lives of people with intellectual disabilities which are also very important.
