Avril 2016. Chaplin World.

Milestone is the Swiss Tourism Industry’s most prestigious prize, recognising exceptionally innovative projects which exemplify the industry’s efforts to remain competitive in the 21st century.

Chaplin’s World is located in the Swiss town of Corsier-sur-Vevey on the shores of Lake Geneva, and includes the Manoir de Ban, Charlie Chaplin’s home for the last 25 years of his life, as well as a 3,000m2 theme park. Complementing the Lausanne Tourism & Convention Bureau’s meetings and events offering across the region, premises within the Chaplin’s World site, or the entire venue, may be hired. This includes a 250 m² VIP space in the Manoir de Ban, a 150-seat movie theatre, a four hectare park for large receptions, and the café-restaurant.

Olivier Mathieu, Congress and Meetings Manager at Lausanne Tourism & Convention Bureau, says: “Chaplin’s World is much more than just a museum. It is a full experience by itself and it already has incredible international appeal. This award is recognition of its contribution to tourism in our country. The dedication of the Chaplin’s World team means it has potential to become a ‘must-do’ for visitors to Switzerland, and is the ideal venue choice for event organisers looking for a more unusual venue that will inspire delegates.”

Musée Grévin, Paris, is one of the oldest wax museums in Europe, with other venues across four continents in Montréal, Prague and Seoul. More than 30 wax figures created by Grévin decorate Chaplin’s World, which was awarded the Innovation Award’s third prize. Second prize was awarded to the Swiss Snow Sports Initiative; and first prize to Arosa, the destination for events in the Graubünden mountains.
