The ceremony took place in the South Hall of Fužine Castle, home of the Museum of Architecture and Design. A few kilometres from the Ljubljana city centre, this amazing venue greeted over 200 guests who were looking forward to know which restaurants are the best ones in Slovenia. The best restaurants in each category were selected by the Chefs & Foodies Academy, which consists of chefs, culinary experts, critics, wine connoisseurs, wine makers, and wider Slovenian public who voted on restaurants via the official website.

A total of 140 Slovenian restaurants were in the running for the awards. The prestigious regional awards went to: Vila Podvin (North), Ošterija Debeluh (South), Gostilna Rajh (East), Hiša Franko (West), and Restavracija Strelec (Ljubljana and central Slovenia).

The prestigious title of THE best restaurant overall went to Hiša Franko with its chef Ana Roš.

Chef Ana Roš of the Hiša Franko restaurant in the western town of Kobarid has put Slovenian cuisine on the map by becoming the World’s Best Female Chef. The World’s 50 Best Restaurants culinary portal picked her for the prestigious title due to her precision, affection to details and her imagination. Roš will receive her World’s Best Female Chef Award at a ceremony in Melbourne, Australia, on 5 April. Last year the award was conferred on chef Dominique Crenn of the Ateliera Crenn restaurant in San Francisco.
