MCI, the world’s largest professional conference organiser and provider of strategic engagement and activation solutions for the international meetings and event industry, will have a strong presence in the Astana EXPO 2017. The all-star teams from the company’s local offices in Belgium and The Netherlands will ensure the seamless delivery of a wide range of solutions throughout the duration of the Expo to two country pavilions: The Holy See (Vatican) and The Netherlands respectively.

For the Holy See (Vatican) pavilion, MCI Brussels is in charge of Project Management and Communication, creating a unique experience communicating the needs for “Energy for the Common Good: Caring for our Common Home”. Acting as a general contractor, the team is responsible for the designing, planning, building, maintenance and dismantling of the Holy See pavilion. MCI Brussels also acts as the sole interlocutor for subcontractors and is also involved in Operations. Furthermore, for the unique design of the pavilion’s overarching theme – an allegorical circular visitor experience that illustrates the symbiosis between science and faith, and calls for equitable access to energy – the team has partnered with the co-inventor of 3D projection-mapping, the highly acclaimed artist Naziha Mestaoui. Also, the partnership with Nüssli, the world’s largest builder of temporary structures, further ensures that the Holy See (Vatican) pavilion will be one of the highlights of this year’s Expo, attracting visitors from all around the world.

MCI Amsterdam’s team is responsible for the Operations, Hospitality and Events production for one of the most important pavilions in the Expo, based on the nation’s pioneership in respect to green energy and sustainability: The Netherlands pavilion will be showcasing the best innovations themed “Low Land, High Energy: A Mindset that Shapes the World of Tomorrow” and will highlight the country’s crucial role in the adoption of innovative green energy solutions worldwide. Moreover, visitors will get the chance to experience the development of the Dutch mind-set in 2 different shows, the highlight being a digital surprise that will be revealed on the opening day of the Astana Expo 2017!

The Astana EXPO 2017 is the most recent version of the World Exhibitions or EXPOs which have been organised for more than a century and a half. Expo 2017 will take place between June 10 and September 10, 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan and in this 3-month long event, visitors will have the chance to experience more than 6,000 organised thematic events on a 25-hectar newly built Expo site. This year’s theme is ‘Future Energy’ and aims to increase awareness and inform visitors about innovative and practical energy technology and solutions that can ensure safe and sustainable access to energy sources. The Expo also aims to stimulate dialogue on how to accelerate the Green Energy Revolution and how to make energy access equitable, environmentally responsible and economically viable now and in the years to come.

Kazakhstan, being the first former Soviet Republic to host such a major World Specialised Exhibition, has been moving fast in terms of creating new and upgrading existing infrastructure in the capital city of Astana. The organisers are expecting more than 5 million visits and for this reason 24 new hotels were built for accommodating more than 35,000 tourists each day. With the participation of 115 countries and 18 international organisations including the UNDP, UNESCO, UNIDO and The World Bank among others, and events ranging from a global summit on “Energy Finances” organised by

Bloomberg to a custom Cirque du Soleil show production, the Astana Expo 2017 is expected to be a huge success!
