Qatar Airways announced an early launch of operations of its direct scheduled connection between Prague and Doha, the capital of Qatar. The carrier originally planned to launch the service during the 2018 summer season, but the first flight on the route will happen this year, on Monday, 21 August 2017. The route will then be operated on a daily basis. This is the result of intensive negotiations between the carrier and Prague Airport representatives carried out all last year.

The connection, serviced 7 days a week, will be operated by Airbus A320 with a capacity of 144 seats: 12 in Business Class and 132 in Economy Class. Flights to Doha take 6 hours. The new route will allow passengers to comfortably use connecting flights to additional destinations in the carrier’s network, primarily to Asia and Australia. The direct connection to Doha is the 11th long-haul route to be offered to passengers by carriers from Prague during the 2017 summer season.

Alongside being an additional connection to a number of destinations, the new route from Qatar will help develop tourism in both countries. It is expected that the service will be used by up to 40 thousand passengers a year in both directions, based on the aircraft load factor.
