The full conference calendar in Dubrovnik, Zagreb and Opatija, particularly the international conferences, is confirmation of the great reputation of these destinations, and indicates that 2018 will be a very successful year!

In the period following the global recession, Croatia has recently made a strong recovery on the international congress and incentives market. The cities Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Opatija, as the most important but not the only host cities, have hosted many events in 2017, and the congress calendar for 2018 and 2019 is already filling up fast!

Here we highlight just a few of the events bringing together participants from around the world.

Opatija was the host in June of the 69th OMEP World Assembly and Conference, while in September, the IBM Watson Summit was held. Also in September, the 12th Quadrennial Congress of WFNN was held, having beat out Vienna in the competition for hosting the event. The dynamic congress season will continue until the end of the year, and then continue into 2018 and later.

Congress activities have been intensive in Dubrovnik, which has a full congress calendar. Just a few events to note are the European Cities Marketing Conference and General Assembly, European Biotechnology Congress and Congress of the World Organisation of Workers held this year. Upcoming events are the congresses of Aquaculture Europe, MTB Aviation, Aquaculture insurance & Risk Management Company, International Symposium of Turkish Culture Word, Global Business Conference and many others.

Zagreb, Croatia’s capital, was the host of a large number of international conferences this year, including: 5th ECOVIS – regional partner conference for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), ESEH – European Society for Environmental History, and more. In September, the city was host to the 6th World Conference on Physico Chemical Methods in Drug Discovery and Development and the 15th Symposium of Aquatic Microbial Ecology. Upcoming events include large international and domestic meetings, such as the ENOTHE 2017 Annual Meeting and AEC Annual Congress & General Assembly in October. The congress calendar for 2018 and 2019 is also filling up fast.

An impressive list of completed and upcoming events shows that Croatia is a sought after and recognised congress destination, and the satisfaction of organisers and participants indicates that the best congress years are yet to come.
