The EAP Congress and MasterCourse took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia. CD Congress Centre Ljubljana (CD) hosted the event from 12th to 15th October 2017, welcoming 700 delegates at their various hall, starting with a welcome reception and opening address of the delegates in their Linhart Hall, also the place for Sundays closing ceremony.

EAP, the leading European organisation with hundreds professionals involved, welcomed their delegates with goal to promote the health of infants, children, adolescents and young adults in Europe, improve standards in training, service and research and to represent the professional interests of paediatricians in the EU. EAP Congress and MasterCourse 2017 is organized in three segments, the Scientific, MasterCourse and Congress programme, the latter containing numerous plenary lectures, poster and round-table sessions, oral communication sessions, etc. The CD´s Grand reception hall, prestigious hall and home of many prominent Slovenian events and truly magnificent hall, one of the most spacious Slovenian hall, was hosting the MasterCourse programme with numerous lectures and plenary lectures, case studies, workshops, oral communication Sessions, etc.

Of course, congresses are not just about the official programme, and very important part is the informal part – for that reason, CD cooperated with local tour guides in organizing special tour packages, tailor-made for EAP 2017 participants. The delegates had the possibility of experiencing some excellent sightseeing, exploring the city of Ljubljana and its surroundings with the pre-congress tours and also the opportunity for the post-congress full day tour.

And there sure is plenty to see and explore in Ljubljana, the Green Capital of 2016 with its small and hidden alleys, starting at Prešern square – named after famous Slovenian poet, also the author of Slovenian anthem “Zdravljica”; walking across the famous Triple Bridge right next to the square and heading over to the Dragon Bridge, home of the famous four dragon statues – the town symbols, visiting the castle overlooking the city with all the stories hidden behind its walls, or maybe indulging your taste buds at the known “Beer and burger fest”, a pop up culinary event happening last weekend in Ljubljana’s centre. And like the beautiful capital, the other parts of small Slovenia have numerous attractions to show off why the country is becoming a popular congress destination. Whether it is discovering the magic Postojna cave with famous Human Fish or the Baby dragon, Alpine gems Bled and Bohinj, small but picturesque Slovenian Coast with Piran, Sečovlje Saltpans and Lipica, famous for the gracious and elegant Lipizzaner horses which you just have to admire.
