Practically everybody in the world knows the famous Comic Con, a multi-genre entertainment and comic convention held annually in San Diego, California, United States. The event holds several Guinness World Records including the largest annual comic and pop culture festival in the world, for example in 2010 it welcomed more than 130,000 attendees. Ever since 2013 also Slovenia has its own Comic Con, the so called NMN (convention “On the edge of the invisible”) which has bravely been taking care of the imagination since 2013 and bringing the science fiction world to this wonderful European country with great location, just superb to attract also fans from the neighbouring countries.

Choosing the GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre for the 5th convention was a bold move for the organizers which have organized previous four conventions at much smaller venues, so they’ve worked hard and used the superb location of the country and the venue to the maximum, also attracting visitors from the neighbouring countries with an excellent program and a broad range of exhibitors. Location of GR in the middle of the Slovenian capital is simply put a great advantage with various accommodation options just around the venue and lively happening in the Ljubljana centre. And boy oh boy, the decision proved to be correct with successfully welcoming almost 2,000 fans of the fantasy world to GR, which for one day became a playground for basically everything about SF and fantasy genres – games, literature, cosplay …

Visitors had unique opportunity to meet the world-famous Hungarian cosplayer Okkido, the Croatian player Jakov Gavran who appeared in the game of Game of Thrones, listen to a live podcast of Boštjan Gorenc, Pižama and Anže Tomič talking about good films and series, experience the concert of the Super Action Heroes of the Ska-Punk and much more … In one place, only at NMN convention which was held in two of the GR halls – in “Povodni mož” hall, where competitions, lectures and presentations were held, while in the neighbouring “Stebrna” hall was also the fair part of the convention, offering various products on the stalls that every true geek loves. One of the most popular part of the convention was as usual the competition for best costume, mask and science fiction story – proving that each year the competitors want to be better and giving the jury every year harder work to do when choosing the best.

Boštjan Gorenc, Pižama: “A lively bustle of fans of fantasy and science fiction, supported by professional lectures and the promotion of domestic creativity, has a big disadvantage: it lasts only one day. The next year, let’s fix this problem. “

Mitja Bosnič, organiser: “Ever since our first event in 2013, we’ve been dreaming of one day organising NMN at GR. We took the brave step of moving to GR this year and the responses from the guests, vendors, and visitors have been overwhelmingly positive. We are already looking forward to NMN 2018!”
