Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB), Malaysia’s pioneer in Business Events (BE), recently launched the Ultimate Bid Challenge; a two-day event to provide sector professionals a more comprehensive understanding of the art and science of bidding.


“The evolution of the BE sector is inevitable. For Sarawak to offer a better delivery of service and create a thriving Business Events environment, it is vital to accelerate learning and impart invaluable insights to the sector players,” explains Amelia Roziman, SCB’s Chief Operating Officer.

An initiative under SCB’s national BESarawak: Education campaign, the Ultimate Bid Challenge took place at The Waterfront Hotel, Kuching before advancing to Pullman Miri Waterfront, drawing in over 56 professionals from various sectors and associations.

Ultimate Bid Challenge facilitator Jill Henry, the former CEO of SCB and Meetings Industry consultant in Asia, praised the efforts of the participants as, “Truly world-class. I am blown away by the sheer amount of talent and creativity shown at the Ultimate Bid Challenge! They took the tools we provided and transformed them into extraordinary bids – rivalling some of the best which I have encountered.”


Chew Chang Guan, General Manager of Government and Industry Relations at SCB, said “Jill brought to Sarawak her 30 years’ worth of experience in the Business Events industry to set up the Bureau in the first pivotal years, which was instrumental to our early successes. We are grateful to have had Jill as our event facilitator and look forward to produce more bidding experts to win more Business Events for the State.”

The BESarawak: Education campaign is one of 3 elements under SCB’s flagship platform for the industry. Together with BESarawak: Communicating and BESarawak: Awarding, it also houses a partnership programme that instantly links more than 200 organisations which are active in the Business Events scene in Sarawak.
