GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, the largest Slovenian event centre, hosts fairs, congresses, business conferences and other meetings and is annualy visited by half a million people what equals for almost two times the number of Ljubljana’s residents. Its location in Ljubljana’s city centre represents a significant competitive advantage and also contributes from a sustainable point of view which has been an increasingly important part of the meetings industry.
Planned in the modernist style, built in the tradition of boldly designed exhibition spaces, and completely renovated, the GR today consists of seven large halls and several smaller conference rooms. The centre has so far hosted events of the highest importance, such as the 13th Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe – OSCE, the 15th session of the ACP-EU, and many others. The centre is undoubtedly comparable to international centres with a high level of professionalism and a thorough knowledge of the meetings industry.
For all the above stated reasons, GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre represents a wanted and well-booked centre for congresses and events. Its announced programme for 2018 is already now boasting with large events that are either organised by the GR itself, or are hosted by it. So far, 32 events have been announced for 2018. Let’s see a few.
For example, GR this year hosts in its own organisation six major events: 29th International trade show and exchange for active leisure time – Natour Alpe-Adria (31 January – 3 February, 2018); 57th international Home Fair (12 March – 18 March, 2018); Vino Ljubljana – 60th International Wine Competition (13 April – 15 April, 2018); Ambient Ljubljana – Furniture Fair (7 November – 11 November, 2018); 3rd International Home Fair+ (7 November – 11 November, 2018); and the 48th fair named Nature-Health (29 November – 2 December, 2018).
On top of its own production, the GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, hosts many other major international events, like fairs, trade shows, congresses, business conventions, and other meetings. To name just a few: last week GR hosted Conventa – the 10th Meetings and Incentive Travel Show for the region of Southeast Europe; in May 2018 it hosts the Small Business Summit organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Slovenia; and in mid June the 18th European Weed Research Society Symposium with 250 delegates; in the last week of June it hosts 300 delegates of the European Conference on X-Ray Spectometry (EXRS); International Scientific Technical Conference in the second week of July; and in the beginning of September 2000 delegates will attend the 25th EFMC-ISMC International symposium on medicinal chemistry which will make for one of the biggest meetings in Slovenia in 2018.
The number of booked events shows that the GR’s team is properly fulfilling its slogan of »Everything is possible«, as the GR’s Director, Iztok Bricl, said in the interview for Kongres Magazine in late 2016.
