The World Congress for Psychotherapy will be returning to Vienna – its inaugural host – for its tenth instalment in 2023. 4,000 scientists and researchers will meet at the Sigmund Freud Private University to discuss all the latest findings in the field of psychotherapy from 25-29 July 2023.

The World Council for Psychotherapy was founded in the 1990s in the Austrian capital, which would go on to host the organization’s first World Conference in 1996. Subsequent events have been held at locations including Durban, Moscow and Paris.

Prof. Alfred Pritz, President of the World Council and Rector of the Sigmund Freud Private University in Vienna confirmed that working closely with the Vienna Convention Bureau they were able to convince the Council’s board to host the 10th World Conference university in Freud’s home city.

The 4,000 participants expected to attend the event will focus on the latest trends in psychotherapy at a series of 500 lectures, seminars and workshops. 200 scientific posters will give an insight into the latest advances in the use of psychotherapy to treat psychiatric disorders. For the first time, the Vienna event will feature “Freudian walks”, during which participants will discuss the latest scientific breakthroughs.
