On May 26 and 27, Portorož will come to life in the name of roses, selected culinary and rosé wines. The red thread of the festival, which will offer guided tours of rosé wines, live music, wine academy, cooking show, street performances and workshops for children, will be the Portorož roses. Slovenian singer Jan Plestenjak will plant the celebrity rose of this year.

The festival of roses and rosé wines, PortoRose2 – Rose & Rosé Festival, will bring selected rosé wines from all wine-growing regions of Slovenia until the end of May in Portorož, which can be tasted in the flowering Rosary garden right by the sea. The event will start on Saturday, May 26, afternoon, with the Rosé Wines Masterclass – a guided tour of quiet and sparkling rosé wines accompanied by selected snacks.

The visitors will also try the selected Slovenian rosés in the Rose Garden, where they will party with the jazz and blues rhythms of Dixie Shock Band and F & B Acrobatics until the official opening of the festival with the opening speech by mayor of Piran Petar Bossman and the director of the Tourist Association of Portorož mag. Igor Novel. In their company, the famous “Celebrity rose” will be planted by popular singer Jan Plestenjak, who symbolically received the rose in November last year at the “Štorje iz bistroja” (Stories from the bistro) event.

At the Festival, visitors will be able to get the rose-tree seedling of Portorož, which with its glowing orange, yellow and gently rose flowers adorns numerous gardens at home and abroad. The program will be enriched by creative workshops for children on the topic of floral fantasies, circus, and magic, as well as a wellness corner with free massages. An evening event at the Café Central by the Hotels Center LifeClass Portorož, Rose & Rosé party, will delight lovers of wines with garden snacks, selected wines, and music.

The organizers also added a charity note to the festival. The funds collected at the auction of children’s products will be allocated by the Tourist Association of Portorož for the treatment of five-year-old Anja from Lucija.

The PortoRose2 – Rose & Rosé Festival will continue on Sunday, May 27th, when the rosé wine of Slovenian Istria will be tasting in the rosé garden, the culinary offer, and the children’s program will be added to the Art street theater La vie en rose by Nuška Drašček.
