A congress or business guest when in Maribor can go around the city in the company of mobile tourist guide – Visit Maribor App. The free app works without an internet connection and is easy to use. Before getting to Maribor, the visitor can download the app either from Google Play Stores or from the App Store. Visit Maribor App supports Slovene, English and German language.

Maribor, the city of the world’s oldest vine, the European Capital of Culture 2012, and the second-largest Slovenian city enables visitors to explore it without a traditional map but rather with Visit Maribor mobile application that takes visitors to all the most important sights of Maribor’s city centre. At the same time, the app provides its users with less known facts and with photographs from the past.

Besides the city and its landmarks, the application also gives an insight into the city’s offer including the restaurants with the top-notch culinary delights like, for example, Mak Restaurant (Restavracija Mak) that has been for a few consecutive years ranked amongst the five best restaurants in Slovenia.

The application does not just inform which sights are located near the location where the user is standing, but it also provides four thematic trails for discovering Maribor: ‘To the origin of the city’s name’, ‘To the oldest Vine in the World’, ‘Along the Drava River to the oldest part of town’, ‘Up and about former city walls’. The application was developed in cooperation between the Maribor-Pohorje Tourist Board, Secondary School of Hotel Management and Tourism Maribor, and Mitja Rotovnik – the application’s creator.
