Warm temperatures, sunshine, and a light breeze. Summer has come to Ljubljana and it welcomes visitors to bask in the sun, explore attractions or to be active without having to leave the city. Ljubljana is equally interesting for culture and nature lovers, city explorers, and food enthusiasts.

Summer is the perfect time to explore Ljubljana with a walking tour and learn more about the city. ROMANTIC LJUBLJANA

Ljubljana is often praised as a romantic city. And it can defend its reputation. Romantic locations of all kinds are scattered around town. Just by walking through the city centre, you will pass the Butcher’s bridge, which became the bridge of love. After renovations, lovers started symbolically locking their love on the bridge with small metal locks.

The skyline of Ljubljana is a beautiful sight day and night, but it is most magical in the golden hour. For the best view, visit Nebotičnik (EN: skyscraper) the highest building in the city centre, where you can sip your favourite drink on the rooftop terrace.

The Ljubljana Botanic Garden is a lovely place for a stroll along beds of flowers, surrounded by greenery. Or pack up a picnic basket and head over to city park Tivoli, where you can enjoy your lunch and lounge in the sun. And any day can end with a romantic walk through the streets and squares of the old town or up to the castle wall, for a mesmerising sunset.

ACTIVE LJUBLJANA

Ljubljana is one of the only capitals that can be observed from the water. An active way of exploring is stand up paddling on Ljubljanica and sightseeing from the water. Another way to see Ljubljana from a different perspective is a boat cruise along the river. There are various options, you can opt for lunch or dinner on the boat or simply sit back and relax while the guide shares interesting facts about Ljubljana. If you want more privacy you can even rent the boat all for yourself.

You can also rent an off-road bicycle and explore the vast green paths of Ljubljana Marshes Nature Park, just outside the city centre. Golf enthusiasts don’t have to leave the city to play a round of golf either. Ljubljana has its own golf course – Golf Trnovo Ljubljana, a small green oasis with 9 holes.

For those not afraid of heights, a Balloon adventure is the most unique way of seeing Ljubljana. It gives a bird’s eye view of spectacular sights of the city and its surroundings, all the way to Kamnik and Julian Alps.

The most adventurous visitors will find pleasure in mountain bike paths right next to the city centre, amidst the Golovec forests or in one of the five organized bike parks for adrenaline-filled descents and jumps, suitable for beginners as well as experienced riders.
