In January 2013 the Conventa show celebrates its five-year anniversary. To mark the first editions of the main regional trade show, the Conventa programme is enriched with five novelties. Each edition of the Conventa show has made an important step in bringing together the meeting industry of South East Europe and securing its position on the global market. And in January we wish to celebrate our achievements with our meeting industry partners and friends.

Introducing Conventa mingling
The first novelty arises from need for more networking opportunities at trade shows. This year the Conventa trade show therefore introduces Conventa mingling that is designed to accelerate business introductions. In the last hour of the show, the Conventa participants have the opportunity to exchange business cards and possibly additional information for a follow up meeting. In this manner Conventa participants can expand their pool of partners and gain additional exposure.

Launching Conventa Mayors’ Forum
To politically highlight the economic and social impact the meeting industry has on destinations, Conventa invites mayors of South East Europe to attend the first Conventa Mayors’ Forum. The Forum provides an opportunity for mayors to participate in the discussions about the importance of meeting industry for the destinations and network with the participants. The Conventa Mayors’ Forum therefore hopes to strengthen the cooperation and consequently increase the impact of meetings and events on the economy of the destinations.

Hosting SEEPCO meeting
The third novelty aims to strengthen cooperation between respective companies in the region to raise excellence in all destinations. Conventa therefore hosts the second SEEPCO meeting that connects South East European PCOs and gives them an opportunity to exchange experience and work together. In 2012 an initiative was given to establish SEEPCO, a voluntary non-profit professional organization that aims to extend the
promotion of PCOs and strengthen their position in the region.

Presenting Conventa case study
Tony Rogers, Managing Director of Tony Rogers Conference & Event Services Ltd and Visiting Fellow
to the UK Centre for Events Management at Leeds Metropolitan University, will launch a new edition of his book ‘Conferences and Conventions: A Global Industry’ at Conventa. This new, third edition of the book, that provides a comprehensive, in-depth analysis of the international conference industry, will also include 2 Conventa case studies showing the business model and idea behind the show. The book launch and signing will be held at Conventa where Conventa participants will be the first to have a chance to get their hands on the new edition.

Conventa Handprint Wall
To celebrate the five-year anniversary Conventa invites all participants to make their mark on the handprint wall. The meeting industry professionals, visiting the show, have turned the vision of a regional meeting industry trade show into reality. To commemorate this success we invite Conventa visitors to leave their handprint on the Conventa wall at GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre. The Conventa handprint wall will therefore make a loving memory and freeze a wonderful piece of time.
