From October 5th to 7th, the 6th Central European Congress on Obesity (CECON) and the 15th Slovak Congress on Obesity 2017 took place in Bratislava. This year’s congress followed the successful footsteps of previous meetings, which took place in the Czech Republic (2008), Hungary (2009, 2015), Poland (2011) and Romania (2013).

The congress has offered an excellent scientific program and an opportunity to establish contacts with colleagues across the Central Europe and beyond.

The content was mainly focused on state-of-the-art research and current treatment modalities, including lifestyle interventions, metabolic surgery and pharmacotherapy. Meeting provided also maximum opportunity for interaction between delegates to present their findings and to develop collaborations, hopefully leading to new knowledge helpful to the patients. Speakers from all over the Europe and the world performed on the stage. The program was designed to provide a diversity of insights for clinicians, health care practitioners, nutritionists, surgeons, psychologists, physical activity professionals, nurses, pharmacists and researchers who came to Bratislava. Over 200 people attended.

Delegates could also exchange their impressions and experience within the social programme which included a cruise along the Danube River and a lovely dinner hosted at the Bratislava Castle Restaurant with an amazing view of the city.
