As one of the world’s largest youth-serving NGOs, JA Worldwide (Junior Achievement Worldwide) activates youth for the future of jobs. Through the delivery of cutting-edge, experiential learning in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship, JA Worldwide creates pathways for employability and job creation. Each year, its network of over 465,000 volunteers serves more than 10 million students in over 100 countries. Its mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in global economy. JA Worldwide is responsible for six regional operating centres, including JA Europe and its member JA Slovenia.

Through JA’s real-world entrepreneurship programs, students create real companies with real products, working as a team on product development, small-business finance, product marketing, and equity valuation as they launch their entrepreneurial careers. The project has been running for decades in 40 European countries and 120 countries world-wide.

In the frame of the JA Europe, the Alumni JA Slovenia collaborates in supporting and assisting high school students interested in learning entrepreneurial skills. High school students look for a business idea, they prepare its market assessement, launch a company, and create and advertise their own product or service. During the year, they collect experience in all of the business operation working with real money.

Every year, the main and closing event is the Fair of high school companies that is also this year hosted in GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre. At the fair, the students present their product, service and a 4-minute advertisement to the audience and jury. The jury is set by 8 representatives from various Slovenian companies, they evaluate the products and services in 6 different categories of the business operation and according to the final evaluation announce the best »company of the year«. The winning company represents Slovenia in the EU competition Company of the year competition.

With offering its halls for the event, the GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre represents one of the key factors in JA Slovenia’s mission of following the European Comission‘s recommendation that »Every young person should have a practical entrepreneurial experience before leaving compulsory education«. It is the youth that is the fundament of innovative and successful future.
