Q: In your opinion, what makes Salzburg special?

Salzburg is a city of opposites – it’s known for Mozart, the Festival Season, amazing history and fascinating old part of Salzburg. The people of Salzburg are leading when it comes to service and make everybody coming to the city feel at home in a very unobtrusive way. Not to mention the tradition and understated luxury one can experience all over the town. Then you have the Salzburg Congress center and Red Bull modern an worldwide known. High performance can be expected in every way. Excellent train and flights connection. Perfectly located between two beautiful cities, Munich and Vienna.

Q: Where would you take someone to ‘feel’ the vibe of Salzburg and what is your best incentive idea in Salzburg?

I feel the vibe of Salzburg walking through this historical city, meeting the locals and feel welcome no matter where I am. Any local restaurant or bar, the locals make you feel being a part of them. When we sat in the Hotel Goldene Hirsch the Restaurant Goldene Hirsch for fine dining or the traditional Restaurant Herzl, here you meet for example the locals, but also next door a drink at the local place called Sporrer. It is not only the kept tradition, also the modern part with the Red Bull Hangar 7 or Stadium or as Salzburg is surrounded by the Alpes all the sports one can do.

Incentive idea: well basically anything in and outside of Salzburg. What I did the other day was a TAB TOUR through Salzburg which was a lot of fun or a progressive dinner (Salzburg has amazing restaurants) or theme tours in general. As far as I know any incentive around from small until 1000 persons is not a problem at all.

Q: What do you see as crucial marketing elements to lure meeting planners?

Salzburg can host bigger events then one expects. Besides the Congress center and the fairground (together many thousands of people), there are many more locations. One can choose between modern and traditional locations in and outside of Salzburg.

It is difficult to compare Salzburg with it much larger brother Vienna, yet it offers all the characteristics of a congress destination and a cosmopolitan mix of visitors. For current logistics and transport restrictions of the city medium sized congresses with up to 2,500 participants are best suited.
