ANA DESETNICA STREET THEATRE FESTIVAL: 4 – 7 July 2018
Each year in spring, numerous festivals enter Ljubljana’s venues and streets. Up until autumn, the city flourishes in various colours of creativity and arts, ranging from music festivals of several genres to street arts and theatre performances. Most of the festivals take place outdoors and for free, and therefore, Ljubljana is not just an Open City because of offering imaginative events, but also because it is simply that: a wide-open venue for all sorts of non-conventional festivals that allow for an artsy stay in Ljubljana to any congress guest.
Ana Desetnica, the international street theatre festival, held outdoors, with its urban art annually brings together street artists, clowns, circus performers, jugglers, tightrope walkers, fire-eaters, musicians, ‘provocateurs’, dancers and actors from Slovenia and abroad.
It showcases contemporary trends in street theatre creativity and is remarkable for its well-defined artistic concept and its organizers’ efforts towards complementing the vibrancy of city life in Ljubljana with the vibrancy of the festival.
In the beginning of the summer of 2018, Ana’s caravan of artists from all over the world is again going to travel through Ljubljana, inviting the visitors to the streets with its superb street theatre, circus and dance performances.
Ana Desetnica gives Ljubljana an air of unrestrained otherness where the audience also participates in performances.
Thus, it is not just a theatre, but rather a world of endless imagination which anyone can enter to take a joyful ride towards the horizons of street artists.
The first events of the 2018 edition, will be held from the 28th of June until the 1st of July with one performance per day. However, from the 4th of July on, there will be on average 13 performances a day, with the first one of the day usually starting around 6 to 6.30 pm, and the last one of the day closing the day with a performance around 10 to 10.45pm.
The words cannot describe this festival enough. Thus, we give emphasis on the photos to give you a glimpse into one of the most beloved Slovenian festivals that amazes any congress guest visiting Ljubljana.
