Incentive travel is a group motivational journey organized by the company for its employees/business partners. Incentive travel is a reward and encouragement for better interpersonal relationships between employees and business partners. From classical group trips, they differ in clearly defined and measurable travel destinations.
A great advantage for destinations is that the buyer/customer is a company or an agency, not an individual guest, which greatly facilitates the logistics of the performance and marketing of the product.
Incentive programs are most often separated according to the purpose and goal of organizing such a program. Incentive programs should not be confused with teambuilding, which is usually part of the program, depending on the client’s strategic goals.
Incentives can take place in many Slovenian cities and not only in the developed MICE destinations.

THE MOST COMMON INCENTIVE PROGRAMS ARE
- Sales incentive programs
The main goal of such programs is to influence and motivate employees/business partners in sales and to improve results. A typical example is a program for the best salespeople who have achieved exceptional results.
- Prize programs
Such trips are a reward for the exceptional achievements of the teams, the completion of important strategic projects. They make a great contribution to employee satisfaction. They are among the most common forms of incentives.
- Motivational programs
The aim of such programs is to strengthen team relations, improve employee motivation and solve conflicts in teams. A key part of such programs are strategic teambuilding programs, linked to the genuine experience of the destination.
- Programs for loyal partners and clients
The prize for loyal clients and partners who have reached outstanding sales results. This kind of incentive is by nature the most exclusive.
ADVANTAGES OF SLOVENIA AS THE INCENTIVE DESTINATION
Slovenia enables the implementation of authentic and diverse incentive programs, which have in common the high quality of connection with local cultural and historical specialties and culinary arts. Incentive programs are a link between many fields such as culture, science, art, cuisine, history, and nature. All this places Slovenia among the European MICE destinations with an exceptional incentive product with a great potential.
Incentive stories take place practically all year round. Especially popular are the offshoring months of March, April and May, and the autumn months of September and October. This contributes to the de-seasonalization of destinations to a large extent.
Congress Bureau has already collected over 100 incentive ideas in Slovenia and published them in a special brochure. There is also a series of other activities, as the Congress Bureau believes that the Incentives are the shortcomings to Slovenia as a five-star experience destination.
The late Rok Klančnik had long ago set up the incentives on the right place. He announced congress tourism, and within this also the incentive product, as the aristocracy of tourism. This was based on the high consumption and well-known multiplicative effects of the congress industry.
