Cankarjev dom – Cultural and Congress Centre Ljubljana's Kosovel Hall, a beloved venue for quality movies enthusiasts, is named after the so called Slovenian Rimbaud, Srečko Kosovel.

WHO WAS SREČKO KOSOVEL?

Srečko Kosovel, the so-called Slovenian Rimbaud, was a genius poet who died in 1926 only 22 years old. Today, Kosovel is considered one of central Europe’s major modernist poets whose poetry is still echoing as if it was contemporary and not, in fact, more than 100 years old.

Kosovel was an impressionistic poet, a political poet resisting fascism of the time, and expressionist, a Dadaist, a satirist, an avant-gardist using constructivist forms. With producing more than 1000 drafts, among them, 500 complete poems with unusually high quality for his age, today, Kosovel is considered the Slovenian poetic icon and an idol to many Slovenian artists and activists. He still is today very much alive in Slovenian culture and consciousness.

LOCATION

Cankarjev dom – Cultural and Congress Centre Ljubljana is located right in the heart of Ljubljana, with easy and comfortable access to any of Slovenia’s capital sightseeings as well as important buildings and locations.

VENUE ADVANTAGES

Kosovel Hall is the well-known film venue of Cankarjev dom. The warm and cozy setting provides a comfortable refuge for lovers of cinematic art carefully selected at the best movie festivals around the world. Completely refurbished in warm colours and soft and natural materials, the Kosovel Hall is also beloved by meetings organisers.

Its 273 flexible square meters dressed in cherry, walnut and bambus wood, provide inspiring space for conventions, presentations, and corporate meetings.

Cinema setting provides 170 comfortable seats in a venue that provides for a pleasant atmosphere. For a bigger audience, Cankarjev dom’s staff provides additional 30 seats that are set in two rows in front of the stage which is 10 x 6m in size.

The complete renovation of the hall costed 290,000 euros, thus, one can be sure that it provides everything that one needs when organising a business meeting or event.

CATERING

The CD Congress Centre’s team cooperates with three catering providers: Jezeršek Catering, Maxi Catering, and Vivo Catering. According to the client’s wishes, the client can either arrange all of the catering with one of these three providers, or the CD staff will do it for them.

INCENTIVE IDEAS

Since the Kosovel Hall is located in Cankarjev dom, one of the most important Slovenian centres of arts and culture, there is no need to look for incentive programmes anywhere else. Everything is right there, just a few steps away: concerts, exhibitions, movie festivals, theatre, and dance performances, etc.
