The newly installed GreenGood composter uses innovative technology that prevents the accumulation of waste by processing food scraps where they are created, i.e. right on the boats. Microorganisms, high temperatures and air reduce the waste volume by up to 90% while converting it to organic fertiliser. PRAGUE BOATS use the composter to liquidate up to 70 kg of organic waste in 24 hours (500 kg per week) and to create 40–50 kg of compost, which is mixed into the soil to fertilise the trees on the “green” pontoons and planters at the marina. The device can compost even meat, biodegradable cups and straws. View this video to see the composter on one of the boats.

In the future, PRAGUE BOATS plan to offer compost to their suppliers of vegetables and other crops to fertilize their production. Composting prevents waste production and contributes to the closure of the cycle of food circulation, the so-called “Closed Loop“. Instead of landfilling, food waste is further processed into a useful substrate that can be returned to nature.
