Tallinn recognises successful conferences and conference ambassadors of 2019

On February 19, the Deputy Mayor of Tallinn Mr Aivar Riisalu presented the honours at the Tallinn conference ambassadors’ awards ceremony in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. In 2019, more than 4,000 conferences took place in Tallinn and 2020 brings multiple large-scale events to Tallinn: 12th International Conference on Cyber Conflict – CyCon 2020 (600 delegates); 16th International Peatland Congress (750 delegates); EPO Patent Information Conference (400 delegates).

The “Conference of the Year” award was given to a remarkable conference, which has brought significant benefits to the country as a whole. The JCI World Congress 2019 was awarded the title of “Conference of the Year” (in the category of 300+ delegates). The Congress had 4,166 delegates from 103 countries, making it the largest conference ever held in Estonia. The Conference of the Year in the 100–300 delegates category was presented to ISCI 2019 “Children in the World”.

The city of Tallinn and Tallinn Convention Bureau recognised the team of the Estonian Lions Club for making an impactful contribution to charity during their event “Lions Europa Forum 2019”. The event brought together 1,325 delegates from 56 countries. As one of their charitable acts during the event, Lions Europa Forum 2019 supported the training of 12 diabetes service dogs.

The Tallinn Conference Ambassador Programme was launched in 2010. The goal of the Ambassador Programme is to bring more conferences to Tallinn by supporting, encouraging, and motivating conference ambassadors. Currently, Tallinn has 104 conference ambassadors – top specialists in their field who wish to bring the conferences of their association or organisation to Tallinn.
