The Geneva International Association Forum was launched by the ASSOCIATIONWORLD Foundation, in collaboration with the Geneva Convention Bureau and Congrex Switzerland, earlier this year.

The much-expected two-day event will bring together representatives of international and European associations, non-profit organizations, federations, professional societies, NGO’s and universities. Its primary goal is to establish an annual international leading platform for knowledge sharing in one of the world’s flagship host destinations for associations, Geneva.

As the situation is evolving rapidly, the GIAF stakeholders and partners remain on top of developments and new announcements made by the Swiss government.

The GIAF stakeholders and partners have been carefully monitoring developments and new announcements made by the Swiss government regarding events on a regular basis.

“Only a few weeks ago we felt rather optimistic that GIAF could take place on 22-23 June and we were awaiting further information by the Swiss government about the date larger public events would be allowed to take place again. Whilst most of GIAF’s attendees come from the Geneva area, we feel that we owe it to them to announce the event’s rescheduling as soon as possible. GIAF will now be held on 17-18 September 2020, in line with the government’s decision that public events with up to 300 delegates will be allowed again in Switzerland”, says Kai Troll, President of ASSOCIATIONWORLD and spokesperson of GIAF.

“The GIAF team and stakeholders are currently working in full swing to deliver a deserving launch of the Geneva International Association Forum. The agenda and programme are being adjusted to include topics highly relevant to the moment in time, based on the four pillars previously announced. We are all more than excited about entering a new phase and starting face-to-face meetings again in full compliance with all the government regulations for public events. GIAF, as one of the very first events to take place after the imposed measures over the last few months, will be that opportunity to get back to business and kick off the association gatherings once more”, Troll adds.
