More than 8500 Santas gathered last weekend in the centre of global virtual dialogues – Tallinn. Their goal was to offer practical advice on how to celebrate Christmas and to raise funds for UNICEF Work For Children initiatives. Since the ongoing corona crisis makes the traditional pre-holiday gatherings of Santa Clauses impossible, the Santas agreed to hold a Global Virtual Santa Claus Congress.
Santa’s helpers from Global Virtual Solutions helped to build the biggest virtual stage in Europe. The event had support from Estonia’s capital city Tallinn, whose mayor Mihhail Kõlvart declared: “Christmas is NOT cancelled!”
“Christmas is not cancelled as long as we all support one another”
The program included greetings from Santa Clauses from Finland, the USA, New Zealand, Australia and many other countries, a brief overview of the world’s Christmas traditions, and a musical performance by the Santa Claus orchestra ensemble. The Santas together encourage everyone to donate funds for children in need, through UNICEF.
“If we all wash our hands diligently and stick to the social distancing rules – we shall have a wonderful Christmas, filled with a kindred spirit,” said World Health Organization Chief Scientist Dr. Soumya Swaminathan Yadav at the Congress. “This year, we have to remain innovative so we could enjoy the next year.”
“Christmas is a holiday of peace and togetherness. This year, it is different due to coronavirus,” said Lehari Kaustel, CEO of Global Virtual Solutions. “However, thanks to virtual solutions designed in Estonia, several global dialogues have taken place. We are thrilled that we could also help with Santas global gathering.”
