Messe Zurich becomes vaccination centre

Although it has been rather quiet on the MCH Group’s premises over the past few months, the venues have taken on a key role in the fight against the pandemic. Following the installation of a vaccination centre at Messe Basel, a similar centre has now been set up at Messe Zurich.

The Basel vaccination centre opened on 28 December 2020 as the first of its kind in Switzerland. While the Meconex company is responsible for maintaining it, the crew at Messe Basel was nonetheless able to make a number of contributions to its successful launch.

“The vaccines that are currently available need well-functioning logistics on account of their complexity”, explains Jonas Scharf, Managing Director of MCH Venues. “With their extensive experience of visitor flows and process optimisation, our employees were able to provide valuable input for the smooth launch of the centre.”

The inhabitants of Zurich will soon be benefiting from this know-how too. The canton has set up one of its eleven vaccination centres in Halls 1 and 2 at Messe Zurich. As of the start of April, the Hirslanden Group will be ensuring that up to 4,000 people a day can be vaccinated there. The canton is thus well-prepared for the second quarter when the vaccine is also to be administered to the population at large. And a gratifying side-effect: the fact that the two locations are now playing such a significant role after lying almost empty for a year is a highly satisfying thought for the entire MCH Venues team.
