Cankarjev dom – CD Cultural and Congress Centre will in September 2021 host the XXXVIII. Derčevi Days (Derčevi dnevi), organised by the Department of Pediatrics of the Medical Faculty in Ljubljana. The annual conference was moved from May to September in order to make sure that everyone can attend. It is predicted that Ljubljana will be completely open in September as it is right now reaching the end of the third wave.
Cankarjev dom hosted Derčevi Days for the first time in 2017. The event has since become a regular scientific gathering returning to Cankarjev dom. The conference annually brings to Ljubljana and Cankarjev dom a large selection of international participants. The conference provides them with a continuous postgraduate education for pediatricians, school doctors and other professionals treating children and adolescents.
The topics of this year’s gathering that will happen in the halls of Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana, are: new modern neonatal screening programs in Slovenia, pediatric allergology and immunology at the time of Covid-19, and gene therapy in clinical practice.
Acclaimed pediatric conference has been named after Bogdan Derč, Slovenian pediatrician who graduated from the Medical University in Graz in 1904, completed his specialisation in Ljubljana and then went on to specialise in pediatrics in Vienna and Graz, to eventually return to Ljubljana in 1907 as the first Slovenian pediatric specialist.
This is the second medical conference announced for Cankarjev dom in the recent time. Another one was the 13th Slovenian Congress and the 36th Symposium of Ophthalmology held via OnAIR between the 20 and 22 May 2021. Cankarjev dom recently announced also that its world-wide famous Jazz Festival Ljubljana will go live between 28 and 31 July 2021.
