Slovakian Stand at Expo Dubai set to present cutting-edge technology

A WORLD LEADER IN CAR PRODUCTION

Slovakia, a world leader in traditional car production, wants to show that it is ready to dip into new technologies. The work of some companies on cutting-edge hydrogen technologies has led to tangible results: a functional hydrogen bus and a hydrogen concept car. The latter is a result of Bratislava emerging as a new automotive hub. The vehicles will be the highlight of Slovakia’s presentation at the Expo 2020 Dubai.

The most diverse World Expo ever, Expo Dubai will welcome more than 200 participants, including nations, multilateral organisations, academic institutions and businesses. For the first time in the 170-year history of World Expos, each participating country will have its own pavilion – a dedicated space where it can showcase its culture and progress to the world, creating partnerships and exploring solutions relevant to its circumstances and people. Some nations, including South Sudan, the world’s youngest country, are participating in a World Expo for the first time. Slovakia’s pavilion is sure to impress guests with an unparalleled technological experience.

“When more than a million cars are produced every year in a small country like Slovakia, it is not possible to say that we are just a kind of assembly hall,” said Economy Minister Richard Sulík. “We are much more than that, and this is what our exhibits show.”

Sulík wants to make sure Slovakia does not miss the train. His aim is for the country to be prepared for the commercial launch of hydrogen technologies. “By presenting hydrogen technologies at this international forum, we can make ourselves visible as a relevant player,” said Sulík.

SLOVAKIA PRESENTS MOBILITY

The government approved the continuation of preparations for Slovakia’s official participation in the World Expo Dubai in early October last year. The cabinet also agreed to pay out almost €6.5 million to finance Slovakia’s official participation in this exhibition. Slovakia will present itself at Expo Dubai within the thematic zone “Mobility”. It will focus on three main topics – hydrogen technologies, the aerospace industry and the space sector.

The exhibition was originally scheduled to take place from October 20, 2020, to April 10, 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organisers decided to postpone it by one year. Expo Dubai will officially take place from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. Expo Dubai, called the “big Expo”, lasts six months and takes place once every five years. A total of 193 countries are participating in the expo, and the organisers expect 25 million people to visit.
