Bea World is an initiative that recognises and promotes excellence in events and live communication across the whole world and takes place in the context of Bea World – The International Festival of Events and Live Communication. Created in 2006 to foster and advance the importance of events in the marketing plans of large and smaller corporations, the Best Event Awards have helped agencies from 40 countries in finding inspiration and new ideas for their events, and are now acknowledged as the main and most challenging international industry recognition.
THE EVENT
Velo-city is an international mobility conference that brought together all those involved in the policy, promotion and provision for cycling, active mobility and sustainable urban development.
This event adopted a hybrid format, allowing people who could not be physically present, to still attend the sessions and hear from the industry’s experts. Through an exclusive platform, participants could log in and watch live and on-demand sessions, chat with other participants and visit digital stands Additionally, this event adopted the Silent Meeting technology which allowed the participants to be in different sessions when physically in the same space, allowed to instantly convert one-750 people centre stage into smaller stages and even allowed attendees to hear the sessions anywhere within the venue. Finally, the GR8 Control app managed the live attendance inside and outside the venue, checked the participant’s possession of Covid-19 certificates, analyzed daily visitors and associated each pair of Silent Meeting headphones to each participant’s badge.
The main objectives of Velo-city were to promote smooth mobility around the world and to discuss the transforming effect, culture and sustainability of urban mobility. Having participants from all over the world, the event wanted to bring awareness to citizens of the benefits of urban mobility and aimed to increase this way of mobility worldwide. The participants of this event for 4 days learned from the world experts in urban mobility and got to know new perspectives on this way of moving. After the event, it was expected a more informed community regarding this topic, who could forge its benefits (and thus conference) for citizens all around the world.
