At the beginning of 2021, establishing Germany’s largest vaccination centre in their exhibition halls was a sign of hope. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, after many months of involuntary isolation, establishing a vaccination centre brought back some reassurance and hope for a return to normality.
The venue’s teams were constantly planning and preparing trade fairs and other events, which often ended up being postponed or cancelled. Despite the challenging circumstances, they took the bold step to stage a premiere, PHOTOPIA Hamburg. They accommodated Germany’s largest vaccination centre at our site for eight months and made every conceivable effort to prepare for the re-start and the return to normality.
One of the strongest desires was to meet face-to-face
The HMC Annual Report 2021 is simply headed: “Encounters”. Being able to meet face-to-face has been one of the strongest desires people have felt since the start of the pandemic. Making these encounters possible is the venue’s responsibility and passion. Thus, the Annual Report 2021 provides event organisers with more information about Hamburg Messe und Congress as a company and its wide range of activities.
With the new congress building, well-established trade fairs, newly developed event formats, and a growing range of digital options for state-of-the-art hybrid events, the venue is extremely well-positioned to face future challenges.
