Bringing $4.7m to Melbourne’s economy
The 151st International Air Transport Association (IATA) Slot Conference is touching down at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) this November and will welcome more than 1000 aviation delegates. 230 airlines from across the globe will convene at MCEC from 15 to 18 November this year, delivering an estimated $4.7 million boost to Melbourne and Victoria’s economy.
The bi-annual conference will see airlines and airports negotiate global flight schedules and air traffic control management.
The conference provides an opportunity to highlight Melbourne’s strengths as a business events and visitor destination, thanks to the Melbourne Convention Bureau who worked in partnership with Melbourne Airport to bring the convention to Melbourne.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula said: “Attracting global business events to Melbourne delivers a big boost to our hospitality and tourism sectors while supporting local jobs.”
“Being the host city for this major aviation conference will help keep Melbourne front of mind for airlines to boost their flight services to Victoria.”
