The Croatian national certificate for the meetings and incentive industry, CCMEP, was awarded to 22 new professionals this year, bringing the total number of certified experts to 137.

Since 2015, Croatian Meeting Professionals Association (CMPA) has been implementing the national certification program for meeting professionals – CCMEP (Certified Croatian Meetings & Events Professional). Developed along the lines of successful and recognized international programs and adapted to the Croatian market, it is attracting great interest from industry professionals, as it provides them with certification of their expertise and additional sales tools. Globally renowned industry specialist Rob Davidson cites it as an example of good practice in his book “Business Events” and with that denotes the quality of this certification program.

The fifth generation of certified experts went through the procedure in two training cycles in Zagreb – on December 7 and 8, 2022 at the Dubrovnik Hotel and on January 19 and 20, 2023 at the Esplanade Hotel. The training was conducted by CMPA members Ivica Čović, Željka Čuturić, Ranko Filipović, Jasmina Kanaš, Goran Pavlović, Debora Petrović, Slaven Reljić, Adem Suljić and Aleksandra Uhernik Đurđek. The first part of the training included a series of lectures on topics such as basic principles of business tourism, types of meetings, incentive travel, project planning, project set-up and implementation and what happens after the project. In addition to the lectures, participants received a brochure covering all the topics of the program.

Contributing to the visibility of Croatia and Zagreb as incentive destinations

The second part of the certification training at the Hotel Esplanade Zagreb began with the panel “Introduction to a MICE destination”, where heads of the congress departments of the tourist boards of the cities of Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Opatija: Zlatan Muftić, Romana Vlašić and Goran Pavlović, shared their experience and knowledge. After addressing the topic of MICE destinations, the practical part of the program followed, where participants had to work in groups to create a bid document, i.e., prepare a program and a cost estimate for the event and present it to the lecturers and colleagues. The certification process was completed with a virtual exam based on materials from lectures and brochures.

In this fifth certification cycle, 22 participants earned CCMEP status, bringing the total number of certified experts to 137. The list of certified experts who have completed the program and thus earned the certificate can be found on the organization’s website at the following web link Certified Members. The validity period of the certificate is 5 years, after which recertification takes place based on the accumulated educational points. Within 5 years, at least 60% of the educational events organized by CMPA must be attended in order to accumulate points that can be used to administratively renew the certificate.
