Sci-fi aficionados convened at one of the first cosplay conventions in Ljubljana at the GR-Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre last week. Convening some 3000 visitors in four halls, the Cosplay convention titled On the Border of Invisible unveiled the latest trends in fantasy and sci-fi.

Visitors could traverse the convention’s gaming zone to find their preferred game, take part in workshops and tournaments or listen to the latest and greatest from the world of sci-fi. Lectures and presentations from esteemed speakers delved into the realm of video games, cosplay and more.

Within the lecture hall, attendees could tune into a live podcast, watch a film premiere and learn about the latest editions in Slovenian sci-fi literature. Not least, the festival hosted Manuel D’Andrea, a renowned make-up artist, who talked about his past experiences in filmmaking.

One of the most anticipated talks was a conversation with Alya Elouissi, a Slovenian actress and singer, who had the extraordinary opportunity to participate in the filming of the hit movie Barbie. In the conversation hosted by YouTuber Kaya Solo, they explored what this role means to Alya, how the filming took place and how the film reflects the pressures faced by women in the industry and beyond.
