London’s largest event venue Excel and Levy UK & Ireland – the UK’s leading sports and entertainment caterer – has marked its 25th anniversary together by releasing a new mini documentary series entitled ‘Behind the Pass’.
Filmed earlier this year across an intense three-day shoot, the four-part series offers an unprecedented insight into the planning, preparation, pressures – and pleasures – of catering for major events.
Going behind the scenes from start to finish, the series centres on the delivery of a high-end banquet for 4,000 delegates, whose guests included leading politicians, global CEOs and international celebrities.
Produced by AirFrame Media, the series takes inspiration from popular Netflix documentaries, with the teaser trailer released today. Episode #1 of Behind the Pass – which references the crucial area of the kitchen where dishes are finalised – airs on 21 May, with remaining three episodes shown across the Excel and Levy channels over the coming weeks.
The series also delves into the personal passions and career experiences of the chefs and catering team at Levy, as well as showcasing the huge number of Excel staff and suppliers that are involved in just one 24-hour period.
Levy, the events, sports and entertainment arm of Compass Group UK & Ireland, has been Excel’s food and beverage partner since the Royal Docks venue first opened in 2000, and has been putting high-quality, sustainable offerings at the heart of its 400 events and four million annual visitors ever since.
Late last year, the two further strengthened their 25-year partnership by announcing a multi-million-pound commitment to future investment and innovation. Central to this lies a brand-new dining experience for Excel’s new-look waterfront entertainment district – Immerse LDN – entitled the Waterfront Street Kitchen & Bar.
In addition, Levy will expand its in-venue food and beverage offer to Excel’s new 25,000sqm expansion, continuing its focus on providing high-end, modern and sustainable cuisine, as well as initiatives such as carbon food labelling, menus that are at least 50% plant-based and the sourcing of 100% recyclable or reusable packing.
