The City of Tartu has been selected as the host of the IUFRO Division 5 “Forest Products” Conference in 2027, bringing one of the leading global forest science events to Estonia for the first time.

The decision follows a highly competitive selection process, with strong bids submitted by Bern (Switzerland), Ghent (Belgium), and Warsaw (Poland). Estonia’s proposal stood out for its well-structured scientific programme, professional planning, and the unique appeal of Tartu as a compact, connected, and research-driven host city.

The successful bid was led by the Institute of Forestry and Engineering of the Estonian University of Life Sciences, whose concept won unanimous support from the IUFRO Division 5 coordination team. Congratulations are in order for Prof. Marek Metslaid and Prof. Hardi Tullus, and the entire organising team, including Publicon PCO and DMC partners.
