At the recently concluded ICCA Congress in Porto, Visit Faroe’s campaign, “Closed for Maintenance — Open for Voluntourism”, moved both the audience and judges who chose their project as the winner of the ICCA Best Marketing Award 2025. The campaign shows how marketing can truly inspire, connect, and move people.

Closed for Maintenance is an environmental-tourism initiative and has been running once a year in the Faroe Islands since 2019.

Last year, 80 international volunteers (and dozens of local volunteers) were selected to form 9 teams who partook in cultural restoration and environmental projects across the islands.

The other finalists, Wonderful Copenhagen and BE Sydney, also impressed the jury with an emphasis on collaboration and purpose.
