Kongres Magazine has been the official media partner of Conventa since the very first edition. This year, the premier regional trade show in New Europe celebrates its 18th anniversary. To understand what keeps leading suppliers returning, we spoke to representatives from far and near who convene in Ljubljana to meet with global hosted buyers every February. We spoke with Aleksander Batorski, Director of the LCK Lublin Conference Centre, who explained that Conventa provided their venue and region a platform to showcase their excellence.

Q1: How has your exhibiting approach evolved since your first Conventa?

Although our presence at Conventa began relatively recently, it quickly became clear to us how important this platform is for the industry. From our very first participation, Conventa proved to be an extremely valuable experience, both professionally and personally. Returning feels like a natural next step and an opportunity to further strengthen the position of the Lublin Region and the Lublin Conference Centre as a reliable and professional partner on the European MICE map.

Q2: What keeps you returning to live trade shows in an era dominated by digital tools and platforms?

Live trade shows offer something that digital tools simply cannot replace – direct human interaction. Face-to-face conversations, the energy of the event, and the opportunity to experience a venue’s atmosphere in person remain essential for building trust and meaningful relationships. At LCK, we see technology as a tool that supports people, not replaces them.

Q3: In your view, how have destinations or suppliers changed the way they present themselves at exhibitions over the years?

Today, destinations and suppliers place greater emphasis on storytelling and authenticity. It is no longer merely about infrastructure or numbers, but about people, flexibility, experience, and the values underlying a brand. Organisers want to know with whom they will be working and how a destination can support their goals.

Q4: What does a “successful” trade show look like to you today? Has that definition changed over time?

A successful trade show is no longer measured only by the number of meetings in the diary. For us, success means meaningful conversations that can lead to real cooperation and long-term projects. The focus on quality, engagement, and mutual understanding has become increasingly important over time.

Q5: What’s been your key to building strong, long-term partnerships in this industry?

An individual approach, consistency in quality and a dedicated, experienced team. We aim to support our client on an individual basis, recognising that each event has unique requirements. Thanks to our team, we are able to support organisers at every stage of the process – from initial planning to the final execution of the event.

Q6: Can you share a moment at a trade show that had a lasting impact on you professionally or emotionally?

Participating in the Meetings Star Awards Gala and receiving the award for Best Congress Centre for up to 1,000 people was a moment of great pride. It confirmed that LCK meets international standards and is recognised as a professional venue on the global stage.

Q7: How do you see the role of live exhibitions evolving in a world of AI, hybrid formats and fast-changing expectations?

Technology and AI will continue to support efficiency and processes, but live exhibitions will remain essential for building relationships. Their role will increasingly focus on experience, dialogue and authentic human interaction. At LCK, we believe that no AI tool can replace the atmosphere created by people working together.

“Event organisers are increasingly seeking “undiscovered” locations that combine high standards with unique character.”

Q8: What does real, meaningful engagement look like for you today, beyond just collecting leads or handing out brochures?

Meaningful engagement starts with listening. It is about understanding the organiser’s goals, exchanging experiences, and demonstrating that behind the offer is a committed team ready to support and collaborate. A valuable connection always starts with the proper approach.

Q9: What one piece of advice would you give to first-time exhibitors?

Focus on relationships rather than numbers. Be authentic, listen carefully and clearly communicate what truly differentiates your offer.

Q10: What’s the most exciting opportunity you see for exhibitors in the near future?

The growing interest in new and less obvious destinations. Event organisers are increasingly seeking “undiscovered” locations that combine high standards with unique character. This creates significant opportunities for emerging destinations such as Lublin and the region, which offer modern infrastructure, flexibility, and the ability to combine business with culture and innovation.
