Hilton Prague Old Town Unveils Its New Lobby: Light, Calm, and the Crystal Panorama of Prague at the Heart of the Space.

Hilton Prague Old Town has unveiled its newly renovated lobby following a comprehensive design update. The transformation was designed by IBA architectural studio with a balanced blend of clarity, light, and timeless contemporary elegance. At the centre of the revitalised lobby stands the bespoke crystal installation Křišťálová tapisérie Panorama Prahy (Crystal Tapestry: Prague Panorama) by Preciosa, connecting the architecture with the atmosphere of Prague’s rooftops and façades through subtle reflections and a rhythmic structure.

“The renovation of our lobby marks a new chapter for the hotel. We wanted to create a space that feels brighter and truly welcoming – a place where guests immediately sense the spirit of Prague. While introducing this new light and spaciousness, we were careful to preserve the original elements of David Collins’ iconic Art-Deco-inspired design, which is so characteristic of this part of Prague. The centrepiece of the transformation is a breathtaking Crystal Tapestry – a celebration of Czech creativity and craftsmanship, and we’re incredibly proud to showcase it at the heart of our hotel,” said Tanya Podgoretska, General Manager, Hilton Prague Old Town.

The lobby of Hilton Prague Old Town has undergone a renovation that enhances its appeal for the MICE segment as well. It now feels more representative for group arrivals and VIP guests, while naturally serving as a setting for informal meetings, networking, and brief gatherings before or after the main programme. The new design highlights the local character and authenticity of the space. Its centrepiece is a crystal installation by Preciosa, created based on the concept by the architects’ IBA. Overall, it combines contemporary comfort with the historic atmosphere that MICE clients often seek.

A first impression that guides with clarity and warmth

The refurbishment focused on improving the flow of the space while enhancing comfort throughout the arrival experience. The design retains the historicist column grid, using it as a strong framework for the renewed interior. In their original white finish, the columns create a calm backdrop for contemporary elements and subtle golden accents. Layered, sophisticated lighting further enhances the atmosphere, gently shaping the space and drawing attention to its materials and structure.

Artistic centrepiece: a crystal veil revealing Prague

At the heart of the lobby, the Křišťálová tapisérie Panorama Prahy (Crystal Tapestry: Prague Panorama) serves as the space’s visual anchor. Based on the concept by architects’ IBA, the bespoke installation was designed by Iveta Holíková and handcrafted by Preciosa in Kamenický Šenov. Measuring 390 × 280 × 10 cm (W × H × D), it is composed of thousands of crystal pendants and hundreds of three-sided glass prisms in varying sizes, colours and finishes.

The concept draws on the atmosphere of Prague’s historic neighbourhoods: the rhythm of façades transitioning into winding rooflines, fragments of the city silhouette, and the visual memory of place. Its palette blends sand-to-amber tones and dove grey, evoking Old Prague’s patina and nostalgia, transformed into a tapestry woven from glass, light and time.

A space for arrival and inspiration

Bringing together contemporary architecture and Czech crystal craftsmanship, the new lobby becomes a modern tribute to the artisan tradition for which Prague and the Czech Republic are renowned, while offering guests an elevated setting from the very first moment they arrive.
