At the end of 2023, the reconstructed icon of Belgrade will combine the congress and business-commercial zone with a hotel all under one roof. The long-awaited reconstruction of the Sava Centar officially began on December 23, when Delta Holding, the new owner of the well-known congress centre, announced that it would restore the old splendour of the facility.

The director of the Sava Centar, Kristina Mirosavljević, revealed what the reconstruction entails, whether the Sava Centar will stay true to its purpose and to what extent the facility will transform.

Most importantly, the Sava Centar will retain its purpose. “Every world metropolis has its own congress and cultural centre, so Belgrade needs one as well. The role of a congress centre is to hold business meetings, congresses, exhibitions, cultural events and performances and to bring a large number of tourists,” Mirosavljević pointed out.

“We will stick to the ambitious plan and renovate the Sava Center so that it becomes a congress hub for the entire region.”

Sava Centar was built with the intention of being a centre of events and will continue to do so after the refurbishment. It will also serve as a separated congress-cultural and business-commercial zone, with its hotel business under one roof, thus creating synergy.

Modern Meeting Halls

The reconstructed Sava Center will boast modern conference halls with modern audio and visual technology, a hybrid studio, two exclusive restaurants and catering. The current setup of the space does not meet the modern requirements of the congress industry, so the existing space will be adapted to the new criteria. Several meeting rooms, networking spaces and exhibitions are planned for construction. The Sava Center is a building that has been declared a cultural monument and is one of the largest and most complex buildings erected in Belgrade.

According to the plan, the doors of the Sava Visitor Center will open to the public at the end of 2023.
