After a successful year 2014, Zagreb in January recorded excellent results. According to the data of Zagreb Tourist Board, the Croatian capital in January visited 40.443 visitors who have made 79.935 overnight stays. [pullquote]Compared to January 2014, these figures represent an increase of 20% in arrivals and even 23% in overnight stays.[/pullquote] Guests from South Korea, followed by tourist from Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany, realized most arrivals. The layout of recorded nights is similar to the arrivals, so in the first place are guests from Italy, followed by tourist from South Korea, Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These good results confirm the re-placement of Zagreb among the top 10 European destinations according to the organization of the European Best Destinations. As a reminder, this organization nominated Zagreb for the second year in a row and voting was opened from January 20th to February 10th at its website.

A 3 weeks competition determined the most popular destination among travelers from all over the world for the quality, reputation and offerings of its destination. 20 “must-see” destinations were in competition to win the prestigious title of Best European Destination 2015.
Zagreb this year took sixth place (Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Vienna, Berlin, Bordeaux, Brussels, Innsbruck, Istanbul, Lisbon, Ljubljana, London, Madrid, Malta, Milan, Paris, Reykjavik, Riga, Rome) leaving behind cities such as Vienna, Paris, London and many others.

What is worth noting is that in this year competition participated 10 new cities and 10 cities, which were already nominated last year (Amsterdam, Vienna, Berlin, Barcelona, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris and Rome), and Zagreb is along with Milan listed among the top 10 European destinations. The organizer will for the first 10 destinations provide exposure on their website and a presence on social network throughout the year as the top 10 European destinations to be discovered in 2015.

Zagreb Tourist Board is very satisfied with the positive results in particular for the re-nomination and placement of Zagreb among the top 10 European destinations.
