Are you planning on visiting Maribor in the next few months to attend a conference, a congress or are you looking for a nice final stop to impress your guests before you end your incentive trip?

don’t miss the major food extravaganza event in Maribor at the food market Pun Pisker

The third edition of Maribor’s increasingly popular food market named “Pun Pisker”, which translated in English means “Full pot”, will once again revive the Styrian capital’s city centre during the period May – October, offering only the best dishes/menus from the finest and most recognizable restaurants in town. The “Pun Pisker” food market opened on the 6th May welcoming all food lovers and gourmands to get a taste of many amazing and excellent dishes, every Friday from 10h to 18h.

Following the success of Ljubljana’s food market “Odprta kuhna”, Maribor is the third city in Slovenia, after Ljubljana and Celje, which decided to undertake this truly one-of-a-kind culinary adventure. The concept is simple – the city’s restaurants boasting with imaginative recipes of local and international dishes present their gastronomic offer at the city’s main open air square, the Leon Štukelj square, where meals are freshly prepared at the stands, and visitors are welcomed to choose among many distinguished dishes, served by more than eighteen top notch Maribor’s caterers.

Each Friday, the market will feature around 18 different food and drink providers, including modern and traditional restaurants, fast food restaurants and beverage providers with aim to promote their gastronomic offer.

On this year’s “Pun Pisker’s” list of restaurants, which will be pampering your taste buds, is again the famous Mr. Falafel, the first restaurant in Maribor offering typical Arab street food, with emphasis on quickly prepared, fresh vegan, vegetarian, and meat dishes. As for the drinks we recommend Ayran, a refreshing smoothie with yogurt and mint nana to round off your meal. Then there is the Romani Kafenava, a Roma restaurant, where among other dishes meat ravioli and cheese-spinach tortellini will be served. For Asian food lovers the restaurant Ngon – flavors of Vietnam” will prepare spicy Vietnamese chicken with ginger. At the restaurant Špajza’s stand you will be treated with shredded pancake accompanied with jam made of baked plums or cherry jam. Many other restaurants such as restaurant Rotovž, Pr Florjanu, Štajerc, Novi Svet etc. will raise your appetite with its exquisite dishes so make sure you visit the market with an empty stomach so you can make room for all of the delicious food. To quench your thirst stop at the “Vinska cesta Vodole’s” stand to taste the traditional Styrian wine delicacies or find the “Pivarna’s” stand to refresh yourself with locally produced beer like Bevog, Carniola, Human Fish, etc.

The best thing about the market is affordable prices. The highest price for the main dish will not exceed five euros, for desserts you won’t pay more than three euros, and the cost for drinks will vary between one to three euros.

So, what’s better than to stop at the “Pun Pisker” food market, this extremely popular format of culinary tasting and open-air dinning, to network with your business partners and colleagues, chat and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere over a glass of wine and delicious meal with accompaniment of music and entertainment right in the heart of the city of Maribor. Bon appétit!
