From 17 to 19 June 2016, the 58th international wine competition will be held in Ljubljana. The event Vino Ljubljana, that has been organised by the GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre since 1955, will introduce wine samples from all over the world. Around 40 tasters from more than 20 countries will assess the quality of wine competing for the prestigious awards.

Wine competitions in Ljubljana have their roots in 1811, when the first “Tasting of Illyrian Wines” took place. In 1955, GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre organized for the first time Vino Ljubljana, a competition that immediately received the patronage of the International Office for Vine and Wine (OIV). The event was so successful that the tradition of organizing the competition continues still today.

Next month Vino Ljubljana will be held for the 58th time in the row. At Ljubljana Castle, 40 tasters from Japan, Italy, Macedonia, Germany, Canada, Montenegro, Austria, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Argentina, Spain, Sweden, Slovakia, and Slovenia will be evaluating 450 samples from more than 20 countries. There is still little time to apply. The final deadline for applications is 30 May 2016, while samples will be accepted until 10 June 2016.
