From 9 to 11 June 2016, the EUMASS congress, one of the big international learning events in insurance medicine in Europe, and the 4th International Congress of Medical Assessors , one of the more important manifestations in the field of medical assessment in our region and beyond, presented top speakers and actual developments in the fields of sickness and disability and the management of health care.
EUMASS has been organising international congresses about insurance medicine every other year since 1972. After Stockholm, the congress was this year held in Ljubljana and was organized in cooperation with the Pension and Invalidity Insurance Institute of Slovenia, the Slovenian Health Insurance Institute and the University Rehabilitation Institute, Republic of Slovenia.
More than 600 professionals from 23 different countries visited the congress that highlighted the return to work of people with health conditions, insurance medicine, conditions in neurology and oncology. Minister of Health of Slovenia, Milojka Kolar Celarc, addressed the delegates: “In today’s Europe, which strives for a high level of efficiency and quality of health and social systems, cooperation and the exchange of good practices in the field of medical nature of expert is at utmost importance and in the interest of all the people of Europe, about half a billion people, that are users of health and social systems.”
Grand Hotel Union as the conference and Gala Dinner venue played an important role in the success of this important event. The hotel staff impressed the guests with Slovenian hospitality and amazing culinary creations. In Grand Hotel Union’s Café, foreign guests could round their experience of Ljubljana by tasting the cocktail dedicated to the European Green Capital 2016, created by Aleš Ogrin, the only Slovenian to ever win a world championship in mixing bar drinks.
